To better meet the needs of enterprise data management and personal data analysis, the overview is divided into two categories: "Public Overview" and "My Overview". The usage and functions of the two types of overview are the same , with the only difference being the different management operations provided due to different permissions. These will be explained one by one below.

My Overview
My overview is primarily for team members to save frequently used analysis results, creating a convenient data overview. Users can also share their overviews with other team members to share analysis results. It's important to note that data results will be displayed according to the recipient's individual data access permissions.
Public Overview
The Public Overview is primarily used to manage important enterprise-level overviews that require shared attention, creating a shared data space for the enterprise. It is maintained by members with "Manage Public Overview" permissions. (The "Pre-built Overview" in versions 1.13-1.15 has been renamed "Basic Data Overview" and can only be viewed within the "Public Overview".)
In the public overview, you can perform basic operations such as creating, copying, and sorting. For smooth operation, all functions and operations are the same as in "My Overview". For instructions, please refer to the detailed introduction in "How to Use the Overview".
How to use overview
This module will use "My Overview" as an example to introduce the basic operation and usage.
- Create new overview groups and overview
- Overview sorting management: Supports changing the overview sorting, modifying overview and group names, and hiding the overview.
- Overview of the batch sharing settings and deletion management entry
- Change the current overview name
- Global Filtering Time Window
- Global filter event attributes and user attributes
- Refresh the current calculation data (refresh only invalid data, or refresh all data).
- Overview of sending settings
- Shared settings
- More options: Performance settings, full-screen mode, stop updates, copy overview, delete overview, export to PDF
- Add data information to the overview: Add existing content from bookmarks, create a new component, create a new description.
Create a new "Overview Group" and "Overview"
At the bottom of the public overview and my overview, click "+" to create a new overview or group under the current category.
After a new overview is successfully created, you can click the "+" button in the upper right corner of the overview details page to add existing content or create a new analysis section using the analysis model. We've also added a "Add Description" component, making it easier to divide the entire overview into sections or add explanatory descriptions to help other viewers better understand the analysis results you want to convey.
- Select "Add from bookmarks" to add existing bookmarks to the overview;
- Select "New Component" to create a new bookmark using the analysis model, which can then be saved to the public overview. Analysis content created through this entry can only be added to the "public overview".
Members with "Public Overview Management" permissions can save the analysis results as bookmarks after analysis in various analysis models and then add them to "Public Overview" or "My Overview".
Overview sorting management: Supports changing the overview sorting, modifying overview and group names, and hiding the overview.
Change overview sorting
You can sort overviews and overview groups by clicking the "Manage my overview sorting" button in the middle at the bottom of the left navigation.
- To give you a convenient overview of the layout, you can select multiple items for the overview and then move them in batches.
- In this pop-up window, you can directly sort and drag the "Overview" or "Group" buttons by holding down the mouse.
Modify overview and group names
Hovering the mouse over a specific "Overview" or "Group" allows for quick operations such as viewing the overview or renaming the group.
Hide Overview
Moving the overview to "Hidden Overview" and clicking the "Hidden Overview" button will make the entire "Hidden Overview" group invisible in the overview directory list. To restore it, click the "Show Hidden Overview" button.
Overview of the batch sharing settings and deletion management entry
Select "Public Overview" or "My Overview," and then click the rightmost button in the left navigation bar to access the corresponding "Overview Management" page. This list provides a comprehensive overview of the public overview's sharing settings and creation information.
- Supports searching by name and keywords.
- Supports "Sharing Settings," which allows you to configure the visibility of the current overview: "Visible only to members with public overview management permissions," "All members," or "Specified members." In "Specified members," you can set specific members, roles, or job titles for dynamic configuration. Note: If the current project does not have "Job Information," it will not be displayed here. You can add the required information in "Members & Roles" - "Member Management" - "Job Management." Members with this job title can then view their corresponding overview according to this configuration.
- The editing function allows you to modify the overview's name and group settings.
- Please use the deletion operation with caution. After deletion, members who could previously view this overview will no longer be able to view it; bookmarks without an owner can be restored in "Public Overview" - "Add from Public Bookmarks".
- Stop sharing. After this action, only members with "admin public overview permissions" will be able to view it.
It supports selecting multiple overviews for "batch settings".
- If you need to add new accessible members to the currently selected overview in batches, you can use "Add Accessible Members".
- If you need to reconfigure the scope of accessible members for the currently selected overview in batches, you can use "Reset Sharing Settings".
- Batch deletion is performed with caution.
Note: If a member does not have access to any overview in a group, then that group will not be displayed when that member views the public overview.
For example, if there are 3 overviews in the Operations Data Overview group, and Xiaoming is not included in the sharing settings of each overview, then when Xiaoming views the public overview module, he will not be able to see the "Operations Data Overview group".
Change the current overview name
After clicking the edit button, you can directly modify the overview name. Then press Enter or click on a non-input area to save the renamed name.
Global Filtering Time Window
Modifying the time will apply to all analysis results within this overview. Please note that this time setting cannot be retained when switching overviews or pages.
Global filter event attributes and user attributes
After clicking the filter button, you can configure the filter conditions in the pop-up window. It supports filtering only "Event Attributes" or "User Attributes". If both "Event Attributes" and "User Attributes" are set as filter conditions, the query relationship between the two types of attributes will be AND. You can also save filter conditions, supporting up to 5 historical filters.
Please note that global filtering currently only applies to the analysis results of certain analysis models. Global filtering can currently filter the analysis results of "User Analysis," "Event Analysis," "Retention Analysis," "Distribution Analysis," "Attribute Analysis," and "Session Analysis." However, "Session Analysis" and "Attribute Analysis" only support user attributes.
In the event properties, we specifically mark the category of the selected property so that you can use the current filter more effectively.
- Public attributes: These are "event attributes" that are present in all events covered by the overview. When using these attributes for filtering, they will apply to all analyses.
- Non-public attributes: These are "event attributes" that exist only in individual events in the overview. When using such attributes for filtering, the filtering query will automatically fail for events that do not contain this attribute.
Note: Event attributes currently do not include virtual attributes; user attributes currently do not include virtual attributes, user groups, and user tags.
Save history filter
- Supports retaining up to 5 historical filters.
- The retained historical filter criteria can be edited and deleted.
- It supports setting saved historical filters as the default filter. Once set as the default filter, the overview will be queried based on the filter conditions included in that historical filter every time you re-enter the overview.
After applying the filter criteria, the widgets in the overview will show the following three types of results.
- Result A: All filtering criteria were effective.
- Result B: Among the filtered conditions, "isDemo" is not a common event attribute of all events used in this analysis, so this condition did not take effect. However, users can still click "View Effective Query Results" to view the data results filtered by other effective conditions.
- Result C: All filter criteria do not match the common event attributes of the events used in this analysis, so the query failed. However, users can still click "View Original Results" to view the original analysis results.
Refresh the current calculation data (refresh only invalid data, or refresh all data).
Refresh expired data: To improve query efficiency, Sensors Analytics queries return cached data. Furthermore, the cached data is cached daily. The cache invalidation mechanism is:
(1) Within the query time range, if the total number of event data entries added to the database on the same day is less than 100,000, the cached data will become invalid if new data is added to the database. Clicking the "Refresh Invalid Data" button will query the latest data again.
(2) Within the query time range, if the total amount of event data entered into the database on the same day is greater than 100,000 records, and new data is entered into the database, and the amount of new data entered into the database is less than 5% of the total amount of the previous query, then the cached data queried previously will not become invalid. Clicking the refresh invalid data button will not re-query the latest data.
(3) Within the query time range, if the total amount of event data entered into the database on the same day is greater than 100,000 records, and new data is entered into the database, and the amount of new data entered into the database is greater than or equal to 5% of the total amount of the previous query, then the cached data queried previously becomes invalid. Clicking the "Refresh Invalid Data" button will query the latest data again.
Refresh all data: Whenever new data is added to the database, clicking the Refresh All Data button will retrieve the latest data.
Overview of sending settings
It supports configuring email and enterprise group (webhook) sending through the system interface. Email and enterprise group (webhook) sending can only be configured for data overviews you created yourself. First, select a data overview you created, then click the "email icon" in the upper right corner as shown in the image above. A dialog box will pop up, where you can complete the sending configuration.
Step 1: Set the content to send
The content to be sent includes: title, body, images, and PDF. The title and body can be filled in by the user, the PDF is optional, and images are sent by default.
Step 2: Set the sending time
The email sending task starts routinely at the set "send time," but the final sending time may be delayed by 2 to 15 minutes because the time required to fetch and render data is uncertain. If a complete data overview cannot be obtained within 10 minutes, the email will fail to send.
Step 3: Set the report generation time
For example: In the data overview, select "yesterday" for the time, and in the email configuration, set the "send time" to "09:00 every day". The current date is July 24, 2017, and the email will be sent at 9:00 AM on July 24, 2017. Let's examine the impact of different "report generation times" on the data on this day.
Real-time generation: The "yesterday" setting in the data overview is July 23, 2017, which aligns with the perceived date. The data in the data overview is also from July 23, 2017.
Ten hours before sending: The "yesterday" setting in the data overview is July 22, 2017, and the data in the data overview is also from July 22, 2017. When sending the email, the "current time" is no longer the current time, but rather it is set 10 hours backward from 9:00 AM on July 24, 2017, so the "current time" becomes 11:00 PM on July 23, 2017.
Step 4: Set up the sending method – enterprise group (Webhook) sending and email sending
It supports sending via enterprise groups (Webhook) and email.
Enterprise group (Webhook) sending
Send notifications to enterprise groups such as Lark, DingTalk, and WeChat Work via webhooks. Multiple configured enterprise groups can be selected. For details on setting up enterprise group notifications, please see " How to Configure Enterprise Group Notifications ".
Notice:
- When adding a group bot on Lark and DingTalk, you must fill in keywords. The group bot can only send a notification if the content contains the keywords.
- The Webhook feature is license-controlled; it must be enabled first and the current user must have Webhook usage permissions before it can be used.
- If a customer's SA environment is accessible only via the intranet, then images sent via webhook will also only be accessible within the intranet.
Sending emails - Get outbox configuration
In version SA2.4, the sender address for emails will be read from the "Outbox Management" by default. See the image below:
The overview provides a quick link to the outbox management section. When sending an email, the system reads the email address configured in the outbox management section, prioritizing it in the order of personal email > project email > platform email.
Email sending - Test sending
After configuration, you can click "Test Send" to ensure that emails can be sent normally and that the data overview content is correct.
Shared settings
You can share your overview with other members. Once shared successfully, the other party will be notified in the notification assistant and automatically added to their "My Overview" - "Overviews Shared with Me". When you modify the content of this overview, it will be updated synchronously when the other party views it.
You can share your overview with all members, or with designated roles, positions, or specific members.
More options: Performance settings, full-screen mode, stop updates, copy overview, delete overview, export to PDF
Performance settings
It supports adjusting the overview performance in the interface, selecting appropriate configurations to improve the display efficiency of the overview, thereby ensuring the effective use of query resources.
A. Typical Scenarios
For customers with a large volume of data (more than 1 billion records updated daily), if they want to optimize query performance, they can put the indicators that are more concerned with the trend presentation into a certain overview, adjust the overview performance, and reduce query time.
For customers whose machine configuration is mismatched with their data volume—for example, a machine with 100,000 daily active users configured as a high-performance single machine (the standard for a high-performance single machine is 60,000 daily active users)—queries will typically be slow. Adjusting the overview performance can reduce query time. However, the best recommendation is to adjust the machine configuration to match the data volume.
B. Specific Operations
Step 1: Click the settings button in the upper right corner of the overview, select "Overview Performance" at point A, and the performance settings page will pop up (this entry is only available for overviews you created yourself).
Step 2: Configure Settings
In section B, select the calculation precision; the default setting is "fully accurate".
Completely accurate: All data in the overview is calculated with complete accuracy;
Only the total is approximated: The total of all duplicates in the overview is calculated approximately, while other data is calculated precisely;
Full Approximation: Approximate calculation for all deduplicated numbers in the overview, and exact calculation for other data.
Select the data update time at point C.
Default strategy: Performance and real-time balance strategy: Learn about detailed caching strategies ;
Daily update at 03:00: Performance-first strategy: Use the calculation results at 03:00 daily (the default is to recalculate the data at 03:00 daily).
Update after * minutes: Real-time priority strategy: In addition to meeting the default strategy, if the update time exceeds 30 minutes, the data will be recalculated. Note: Setting the update time too short will significantly increase the overview's loading time.
Adjust the sampling factor at point D: The default is to calculate based on the entire dataset. You can drag or click the horizontal slider to adjust the sampling factor.
Click the "OK" button at point E to apply the settings. These settings only apply to this overview.
Step 3: If the performance overview is not set to the default configuration, the settings button will be active as a notification.
Fullscreen mode
In full-screen mode, you can set the interval for automatic data refresh. The navigation bar is hidden in full-screen mode, but the global overview filter is still available. Click the first button on the far right in the upper right corner or press the ESC key to exit full-screen mode.
Stop updating
When your project has a large number of overviews, causing slow queries due to performance issues, you can "stop updating" the overviews that no longer need daily updates. This will prevent the overviews from updating data daily and consuming computing resources. If business needs change and you need to continue monitoring the data, you can click "Auto Update" in the same place where you stopped the "Stop Updating" action to restore the function of automatically calculating and caching the overview data daily, allowing users to view the latest data.
Copy Overview
To enable businesses to quickly add existing overviews to the "Public Overview," or to allow users to quickly use others' overview configurations to complete their own related analyses, we offer a "Copy Overview" function. This function applies to both "My Overviews" and "Public Overviews." After copying, you can customize and adjust each analysis element. Please note:
- The "Basic Data Overview" in the scene library is a special overview type, and it does not currently support quick copying.
- Only members with "Public Overview Management Permissions" can copy an existing overview and add it to the "Public Overview".
Deletion Overview
When deleting an overview, the system will not delete the corresponding bookmark because bookmarks may be added and used in multiple overviews. Please be aware of this. If it is a shared overview, the currently shared members will be notified after it is deleted.
Export as PDF
Take a screenshot of the content displayed in the current overview and save it as a PDF file. Content that requires horizontal and vertical scrolling to view due to excessive table content will be lost when taking the screenshot.
Add data information to the overview: Add existing content from bookmarks, create a new component, create a new description.
A. Add from bookmarks
Only bookmarks created by the current user can be added.
B. Create a new component
Step 1: After clicking "Create New Component", select the analysis model you need to use (currently, "Path Analysis" and "Interval Analysis" are subscribed to in the overview as small cards, and we will continue to iterate on visualization-related functions in the future.)
Step 2: After entering the corresponding analysis model, configure it and then click "Save".
Step 3: Configure the visualization information. After clicking OK, the analysis content will be successfully added to the overview.
C. Create a new description
After clicking "Create Description," fill in the description in the pop-up window. You only need to fill in either the title or details to save. Multiple descriptions can be added to an overview to explain the current analysis or to separate analysis sections within the overview.
Custom display information
1. For event analysis with "single indicator and no grouping", when saving to the overview, you can customize whether to display "total", "average" and "year-on-month comparison" information.
2. In "Table" mode, you can customize the display of "Table Number" to locate the current row information and its current ranking.
Event Analysis - Pie Chart Extension
For event analysis involving "single or multiple indicators in multiple groups", pie charts are supported for comparative analysis. Currently, a maximum of 6 indicators are supported for comparative analysis.
Grouping prompts
During the analysis process, we frequently use user segments or user tags (available after purchasing user profiling products) for calculations. To ensure that users reviewing the data accurately understand the calculation methods used, for "routine" segments or tags, if the analysis does not use the latest data results (data calculated this morning), we will provide a prompt describing the segments and tags currently used in this analysis.
The #Routine# type will be prompted in the following two situations:
Today's data calculation is incomplete: Using the calculation results from day xxx, today's cluster calculation results have not yet been completed.
Today's data calculation failed: Using the calculation results from day xxx, today's cluster calculation failed.
The "# Single" type will indicate which day's data was used.
Note: This prompt function is also available in the analysis model.
Month-on-month and year-on-year rules
Time granularity | Month-on-month | Year-on-year | Data accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| By minute | Compared to the previous minute | Comparison with the previous hour: Comparison with the same minute of the previous hour Comparison with yesterday: Comparison with the same hour and minute of yesterday. Comparison with last week: Comparison with the same hour and minute of the same week last week. Compare with last month: Compare with the same date, hour, and minute from last month. Comparison with last year: Compare with the same date, hour, and minute of last year. | Accurate to the second |
| By hour | Compared to the previous hour | Comparison with yesterday: Compared to the same hour yesterday Comparison with last week: Comparison with the same hour of the same week last week. Comparison with last month: Comparison with the same hour on the same date last month. Comparison with last year: Compare with the same hour on the same date last year. | Accurate to the current minute of the current hour |
| By day | Compared to yesterday | Compared to last week: Compared to the same week last week Comparison with last month: Compare with the same date last month Compared to last year: Compare with the same date last year | Accurate to the current hour of the day |
| By week | Compared to last week | - | Accurate to the current hour of the current day of the current week |
| Monthly | Compared to last month | Compared to the same month last year: | Accurate to the current hour of the current day of the current month. |
| By season | Compared to last season | Compared to the same quarter of last year: | Precise to the current hour of the current day of the current season |
| Annual | Compared to last year | Compared to last year: | Accurate to the current hour of the current day of the current year. |
Note: The year-on-year and month-on-month comparison precision in the overview is different from that in event analysis, where the comparison time is added. All data in event analysis is completed and queried according to the time granularity.
For example: It is currently 12:05 PM on October 17, 2022. Selecting the time frame from October 1 to October 17, 2022, and viewing by month, the month-over-month overview compares data from October 1 to October 12, 2022 (at 12:05 PM) with data from September 1 to September 17, 2022 (at 12:05 PM). The year-over-year overview compares data from October 1 to October 12, 2022 (at 12:05 PM) with data from October 1, 2021 to October 17, 2022 (at 12:05 PM). The event analysis compares data from the entire month of October 2022 with data from the entire month of September 2022.
FAQ
How are the Chinese numerical units (ten thousand, ten million, etc.) in the numerical area of the overview card converted?
When viewing numbers in a range on a card, the system displays the original value if the absolute value falls within the range of 0 to 100,000; the ten-thousandth if it falls within the range of 100,000 to 10 million; the ten-millionth if it falls within the range of 10 million to 100 million; the hundred-millionth if it falls within the range of 100 million to 100 billion; the hundred-billionth if it falls within the range of 100 billion to 1 trillion; and the trillionth if it is greater than or equal to 1 trillion. During conversions, a maximum of two significant digits are retained. If the second decimal place after rounding is 0, it is discarded; for example, 111,000 will be displayed as 111,000.
